Italian bassist/composer Ilaria Capalbo is equally at ease building hard-swinging lines and improvising on the whole sound-spectrum of the instrument. Based in Stockholm since 2019, she leads her own bands and collaborates regularly with musicians in Europe and the world. A doubler on acoustic and electric bass, her playing has been described as “bold, visionary and architectonic”. She is also an emotionally attuned composer with a nuanced musicality and a special gift for storytelling.

Her composition resume extends to dance, film and theatre and to many different constellations, from duo to large ensemble.

She is also a sound artist working with installation and performance.

Ilaria endorses MarkBass basses and amps.
